Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry told a few members of the media (not including myself) on Wednesday that cornerback Brion Murray has been suspended for the opener against Old Dominion.
Brent Pry says CB Brion Murray is suspended for the opener. Stems from traffic violations in Maryland that led to his arrest last week. #Hokies

Murray's suspension is due to a recent arrest that was caused by traffic violations earlier this year in Maryland and missed court appearances regarding those traffic violations per the Roanoke Times.
Murray was listed as a co-starter at the Hokies' second starting cornerback spot along with Armani Chatman. The 757 native Chatman will now certainly be the Hokies' starter in the opener against ODU with redshirt freshmen DJ Harvey as the primary and fellow redshirt freshman Elijah Howard plus true freshmen Mansoor Delane and Cam Johnson being other options.
Murray's absence is definitely a disappointing loss for the Hokies, but Chatman seemed likely to get the start over Murray even as they continue to battle it out. Additionally, DJ Harvey showed loads of potential in limited playing time last year with this being an early chance to gain some valuable experience for his development before ACC play starts next week.
