Virginia Tech has already landed one talented wide receiver in four-star Texan Latrell Neville, but the Hokies are looking at a 2021 class with 3-4 wide receivers at minimum and a host of targets currently. That list includes three-star WR Kylen Austin with Tech being in contact with Austin "almost everyday."
In part because of that, the Hokies are among the teams standing out in his recruitment with Austin having this to say about the full extent of why Tech stands out for him.
"When I visited there, it felt like home! Coach (Justin) Fuente and (Jafar) Williams really see potential in me and show lots of love," Austin said.
As Kylen Austin mentioned, the Hokies have hosted the three-star WR on campus for a visit that went quite well back in the beginning of March. That visit was one of the things that has definitely boosted the Hokies into the position of being a frontrunner in his recruitment.
Additionally, Austin's relationships with head coach Justin Fuente and WRs coach Jafar Williams have both been important with Austin having this to say about his relationship with his potential collegiate position coach.
"Our relationship is getting stronger and stronger as we communicate!" Austin said.
Austin feels the same way about his relationship with Justin Fuente along with appreciating what the Hokies see in Austin.
"Same as Coach (Jafar) Williams! Lots of love on his part and I appreciate what he sees in me," Austin said about his relationship with Justin Fuente.
Looking ahead, Austin has a host of schools he is hoping to visit once the opportunity arises again including Virginia Tech, Virginia, East Carolina, and Duke. Additionally, Austin told us that he feels Duke is one of the closest schools to joining his offer list along with Rutgers and Old Dominion.
At this point, Virginia Tech is a top contender for three-star WR Kylen Austin as they look to bring in a large class of wide receivers this cycle.
