Virginia Tech DB Chamarri Conner Named ACC Defensive Back of the Week

After putting together a strong performance in the No. 25 jersey in Virginia Tech's season opening win against formerly #10 North Carolina, Chamarri Conner was named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week.

In Friday’s victory, Conner led all defensive Hokies with 8 total tackles including 6 solo tackles. His night was highlighted by the game sealing interception on Sam Howell with 37 seconds remaining in the contest.

Conner surely had an incredible first week of the season with the Hokies; it all began when he was named one of the five team captains for Virginia Tech in the 2021 season and earned the honor of wearing the No. 25 jersey for the third time in his collegiate career.

This is now the third time that Conner has been named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week during his time in Blacksburg. Back in 2020, Conner picked up Defensive Back of the Week honors in the Hokies' victories against Boston College on Oct. 17 and Louisville and Oct. 31.

Coming into the new season, Conner was named to the 2021 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List. The trophy is given annually to the IMPACT defensive back of the year with the acronym of IMPACT standing for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
