Deablo becomes the third Hokie selected in this year's draft along with 22nd overall selection Caleb Farley and 23rd overall selection Christian Darrisaw. He also becomes the tenth highest selected defensive back in program history, a tremendous accomplishment from a Tech program that has rightly earned their DBU reputation.
With the Deablo selection, the 2021 NFL Draft joins 2004 and 2008 as the only drafts where Virginia Tech had at least 3 selections in the top 80 picks.
There's no doubt that Deablo fits a lot of what the NFL is transforming into defensively in terms of versatile players who can play multiple positions and be used all over the field. Deablo brings that versatility having primarily played safety but also playing some whip linebacker at Tech while also having prime size to be moved around at 6'3'' and 228 pounds.
