Tech received a 10 seed from the committee and will open their first round action against 7 seed Florida. This comes after the Hokies went 15-6 on the season including 9-4 in ACC play to earn a 3 seed in the ACC Tournament where they lost to North Carolina in the quarterfinals.
Virginia Tech seemed poised for a 4, 5, or 6 seed for the first two-thirds of the season but a lack of games in February due to various COVID issues combined with going 1-2 since the first week of February and some poor analytical rankings sent the Hokies farther down the bracket than expected.
Regardless, this is a tremendous accomplishment for the Hokies in only Mike Young's second season with a young roster that has the potential to continue this golden era of Hokies' basketball for many years to come.
We will have more as this story develops.
