Virginia Tech Football 2026 & 2027 Recruiting Breakdown: Quarterback

IMG 0706

With June official visits on the horizon, the time has come to dive into where things stand for Virginia Tech's recruiting in the 2026 and 2027 classes.

Let’s start at the quarterback position where the Hokies signed a pair of high school QBs in the 2025 class but are in the midst of an offensive schematic shift under Philip Montgomery. His first high school QB commit could give us further insight into Montgomery’s long term vision for where he wants to take this VT offense, likely to one more reliant on the passing game.

Meanwhile, the 2027 class could gift us the return of the standout in-state quarterback with a pair of 757 prospects drawing lots of attention.

So with that in mind, let’s dive into where things stand on the recruiting front at quarterback.

2026: An Evolving Quarterback Board With OC Philip Montgomery

A new offensive coordinator with a different offensive scheme from Tyler Bowen has led to a quarterback board that looks a little different for the Hokies. One thing that has only slightly changed is that the Hokies are still willing to go outside the footprint for the right quarterback, with this year’s class featuring a top quarterback who will need an airplane to reach Blacksburg in a reasonable amount of time.
