Numbers have been in flux but tight for Virginia Tech for months, but the Hokies have consistently been among the teams pushing the hardest for him and clearly the most consistent among Power 5 programs. If Tech has room to bring in a talented, long athlete like Keller, I think that's likely where he'll go.
Of course, there are a few other Power 5 schools with Wake Forest and Vanderbilt being credible threats while Tennessee likely doesn't have room for him at this point. There have also been surprises previously with G5 schools but as long as one of the Power 5 schools can take him, it seems unlikely that he would choose a school like Coastal Carolina or Appalachian State.
In many ways, Keller fits well given the tight numbers Tech has and the versatility that could allow him to play a multitude of positions at the collegiate level from wide receiver or even a receiving tight end role to safety or linebacker.
Come tomorrow night, Tech may have themselves a new commitment in their 2021 class.
2022 4* DT Santana Hopper
Virginia Tech has had some success at Shelby HS in North Carolina recently landing the Hollifield brothers. Now, the Hokies are looking to expand on that in 2022 with four-star DT Santana Hopper already having Tech high up in his recruitment.
Hopper told us that the Hokies, North Carolina, N.C. State, and East Carolina are currently standing out in his recruitment. Additionally, the 3 Power 5 schools standing out for him are also the ones that are recruiting him the hardest.
Hopper credited the fact that Tech "interacts with me a lot" as his reasoning for the Hokies being among those currently standing out in his recruitment.
Hopper is definitely an intriguing prospect to watch for the Hokies in a state where Tech has had their fair share of success in the past recruiting top talent. However, UNC will likely be a major test for the Hokies especially given the Tar Heels' recent success defending their home state turf on the recruiting trail.
