Virginia Tech has been busy on the recruiting trail this month landing 5 commitments in the first 11 days of the month. However, that's far from the only recruiting news surrounding the Hokies currently so here are some other updates from the trail.
3* S Caleb Woodson
Virginia Tech has made plenty of in-state recruits priority this cycle including three-star safety Caleb Woodson with Tech making his recent top 5.

The Hokies were joined by UVA, Wake Forest, West Virginia, and Vanderbilt in the top 5 for Woodson with South Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Temple being among his other notable offers.
Tech appears to be a frontrunner for Woodson having hosted him on campus since the arrival of Brent Pry with it going well. Additionally, Woodson has set up an official visit for the weekend of June 10th to Blacksburg according to 247 Sports with an official visit to Wake Forest the weekend prior, another good sign of Tech's strong traction for him.
There's no doubt that Woodson is one of Virginia Tech's top safety targets who also has the size to potentially grow into be a linebacker including at the sam LB spot. Shawn Quinn has been leading the charge in Woodson's recruitment and the Hokies definitely have lots of traction at the moment.
Keep an eye on Caleb Woodson as Virginia Tech looks to continue to do well in-state and beat out a multitude of Power 5 programs for his commitment.
3* WR Paul Billups Jr
Standout 757 WR Paul Billups Jr recently released his top 8 with Virginia Tech making the cut for one of the 757's top 2023 recruits.

The Hokies were joined by Penn State, Michigan State, South Carolina, Florida State, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Duke in his top 8. Among the offers for Billups not in his top 8 are Wake Forest, Maryland, Boston College, Syracuse, and more with Pittsburgh offering after Billups had released his top 8.
Tech has hosted Billups since the arrival of Brent Pry and his staff back in January and seem to be in solid contention at minimum. Billups has taken multiple visits to North Carolina with the Tar Heels being fairly considered a frontrunner in his recruitment given those visits and UNC's 757 recruiting track record with Mack Brown.
For the Hokies, it will be critical for them to get Billups on campus again soon at least for an unofficial visit though getting him on for an official visit is likely a must to stay in contention for him.
JUCO LB Justin Jefferson
Virginia Tech has extended a few JUCO offers recently including one to LB Justin Jefferson out of Pearl River CC.
Blessed to receive an offer from Virginia Tech🦃❤️ @Coach_Marve @TyTrahan1 pic.twitter.com/WOKwjLPk2j
— Justin Jefferson (@JustinJ1_) May 6, 2022
Jefferson is emerging as a top JUCO linebacker for the 2023 recruiting class with the Hokies part of an offer list that also includes Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Colorado, and more.
Jefferson told us that he was "blessed" to receive an offer during a phone conversation with defensive coordinator Chris Marve. He had this to say about how this offer impacted his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"VT is a very big opportunity for me. I can’t wait to get on the campus," Jefferson said.
Since then, Jefferson told On3's Florida website that the Gators are "definitely No. 1 right now" in his recruitment. That goes to show how this will definitely be a battle for the Hokies and it will be critical for Tech to get him on campus for some sort of visit to build on some of the initial traction they have along with trying to chase down Florida.
