Check out the latest Virginia Tech football recruiting notes as we take a look at multiple 2022 targets and more here.

2022 3* CB James Monds III

Three schools continue to lead the charge for three-star CB James Monds III with the Hokies among the lead pack.

Monds told us that Virginia Tech, Michigan State, and Miami are currently standing out in his recruitment. Monds credited the "love" that he receives from Tech's coaching staff as the main reason why the Hokies are standing out.

Monds has built up an impressive offer list so far that points to the traditional recruiting rankings having him vastly underrated at least compared to what colleges think of his potential. He has also clearly emerged as one of Tech's top 2022 recruiting targets at cornerback and a name to keep an eye on at least over the next several months if not throughout the whole 2022 cycle.

Tech is in the hunt early on for Monds as they look to land the highly-offered cornerback from Fort Pierce, Florida.

2022 LB Edwin Wilson Tara Kolenge

Edwin Wilson Tara Kolenge may have a long name, but the Canadian also has a long list of quality offers with several of them already standing out.

Kolenge told us that Virginia Tech is among seven schools standing out for him along with Nebraska, Indiana, South Carolina, West Virginia, Boston College, and Syracuse also on that list. Additionally, the Hokies are among 5 recruiting him the hardest along with Nebraska, South Carolina, Indiana, and Syracuse.

Leading the charge for Tech has been LBs coach Tracy Claeys with the two having a "very good" relationship as Kolenge told us. He also is in contact with Tech at least once a week with that being another sign that the Hokies are high on the Canadian.

Kolenge will have an opportunity to showcase his abilities in the U.S. this fall as the Canadian is currently attending Clearwater Academy International. This school has proven to be one of the more popular places for football players to transfer to who want to showcase themselves prior to high school.

Keep an eye on Kolenge as a top 2022 linebacker target for the Hokies.

TE Cade Anders

Shifting back to the 2021 class, Virginia Tech has been continuing to monitor other potential tight end targets in case they miss on their top 3 tight end targets for this cycle.

This includes Army commit Cade Anders who told us that he has received a "little bit" of interest from Virginia Tech in the past, and is hoping to receive more. However, Tech hasn't had the most contact with Anders recently with it being unclear if Tech is that close to potentially offering the Army commit.

Numbers are tight with Anders appearing to be a possible option if things don't work out with top targets Jordan Dingle, Jack Hollifield, and Robbie Ouzts. If Tech lands at least one of those three tight ends, it would be surprising to see Tech send out any more offers beyond that.

Anders remains one of the top unoffered tight end recruits to watch for Tech in the 2021 class.
