Over the summer, Virginia Tech was among a trio of ACC schools to offer 2021 Richmond DE Bryce Carter. For Carter, those offers appear to simply be the tip of iceberg as he emerges as one of the top 2021 recruits playing in the state of Virginia.
Currently, Carter doesn't have any teams standing out in his recruitment, but he did tell us that the Hokies are recruiting him the hardest. Carter took a visit this past weekend to Virginia and is hoping to take visits to Virginia Tech, Duke, and South Carolina this fall.
Carter was also on campus for the Blacksburg Bash this summer and had this to say about his visit/
"It was great. Their campus was beautiful, and I really enjoyed the staff," Carter said.
In addition, Carter added that Virginia Tech's campus stood out including "how close everything was."
This fall, Bryce Carter has spent some time playing both defensive end and defensive tackle for Thomas Dale HS in Richmond, but Carter did tell us that the Hokies are recruiting him as a defensive end.
Thomas Dale HS is likely a recognizable school to those who follow recruiting in part because of Carter's teammate and elite 2020 RB Chris Tyree. Carter told us that he is "real good friends" with Tyree who is someone that he can go to if he has questions or needs helps. However, Carter told us that Tyree's choice of school won't have an impact on his future decision. In addition, Carter had this to say on what the basis of his future decision will be on.
"I’ll be basing my decision off of what school I feel is the best choice and do so with the help of my parents," Carter said.
Looking ahead, Carter seems poised to gain more offers this fall with the Thomas Dale DE telling us that he feels South Carolina could be the next school to offer him. However, don't be surprised to see several more power 5 schools to likely get involved over the next few months.
Early on, Virginia Tech is making it clear that Bryce Carter will be a top 2021 defensive line target and leaving a strong impression in the process.
