After last week's upset loss to Old Dominion, Virginia Tech came out and responded in a big way with a 31-14 victory over previously 22nd ranked Duke at Wallace Wade Stadium. With the win, the Hokies made their return to the AP top 25 while climbing slightly in the Coaches Poll. Virginia Tech returned to the AP Top 25 at #24 this week while the Hokies rose one spot from 24th to 23rd in the Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech's upcoming opponent Notre Dame rose to 6th in the AP Poll and 7th in the Coaches Poll after their 38-17 win over Stanford. The Hokies are one of four ACC teams ranked in the AP Top 25 with Clemson falling from 3rd to 4th, Miami dropping from 16th to 17th, and NC State joining the top 25 at #23. Syracuse received the third most votes of teams outside the top 25 while Boston College received 3 votes and Duke only received one vote. With this ranking, Virginia Tech's matchup with Notre Dame will be one of three games featuring two top 25 teams this upcoming weekend along with Texas-Oklahoma and LSU-Florida.
