Virginia Tech Leads for Four-Star TE Benji Gosnell After Visit

VT Fans 1

While the outcome on the field wasn't as hoped for, Virginia Tech did have a strong weekend on the recruiting trail with a talented group of recruits visiting headlined by four-star TE Benji Gosnell.

Entering his visit, Gosnell told us that the Hokies were standing out for him along with North Carolina. Coming out of it, Tech has put themselves in a stronger position.

Gosnell told us that the Hokies are now in a "good spot" in his recruitment and had this to say about why that's the case.

"I got to see the whole place. I genuinely enjoy being there and look forward to every visit," Gosnell said.

On top of that, Gosnell told us that Tech is now the leader in his recruitment adding this about why the Hokies are on top for him.

"It's because of the gameday atmosphere, the coaching staff, the way they utilize my position and how I fit in," Gosnell said.

Part of that was likely due to the fact that Tech's coaching staff made Gosnell a priority during his visit with head coach Justin Fuente taking intentional time to have a one-on-one conversation with Gosnell. The four-star TE had this to say about his conversation with Fuente.

"It was real. We talked only a little about football. We talked about family and the culture of the place as well," Gosnell said.

Part of what boosted the Hokies as well for Gosnell was the fact that so many things in his visit stood out as he told us.

"The entire campus, the facilities, the coaching staff, how they run the team, and the atmosphere in Lane," Gosnell said.

Looking ahead, Gosnell told us that he does want to take official visits to Virginia Tech and North Carolina which would appear likely to come before any decision happens.

In the meantime, Tech has put themselves right at the forefront for Benji Gosnell after the four-star TE had a "super fun and awesome" visit to Blacksburg.
