He had this to say about his reaction to receiving an offer from the Hokies.
"It feels truly amazing and blessed to be offered," Schmoranzer said.
He received the offer during a conversation with new OL coach Ron Crook and a few others with Schmoranzer adding that it was a "great" conversation overall.
He also told us that he had an "awesome" visit to Blacksburg adding this on why that was the case.
"Seeing how the team plays and trains as a whole and individuals, trying to get better, I can see that especially in my old teammate and roommate Hannes (Hammer) and his effort to get better. And the facility and staff are great," Schmoranzer said.
Like Schmoranzer, early enrollee OT Hannes Hammer is also from Germany originally and played at Roanoke's North Cross School before choosing Virginia Tech last recruiting cycle.
He also expanded further on what it was like getting to see Virginia Tech practice.
"It was so good seeing them working together as a team and family," Schmoranzer said.
This visit also allowed him to spend some time with Tech's new OL coach Ron Crook which went well as he shared with us.
"It was good getting to know him and everything. I really like him," Schmoranzer said.
So how did this offer and visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"I mean, it definitely put VT at #1, and I think it will boost (my recruitment)," Schmoranzer said.
He added this about why Virginia Tech is #1 and the leader in his recruitment currently.
"The big emphasis of being a family. Me being a long way away from my actual family makes this a big aspect of choosing a college," Schmoranzer said.
The Hokies have put themselves at the front of the recruitment of three-star OL Moritz Schmoranzer after a great visit that resulted in a big offer from VT.
