Virginia Tech Makes the Top 12 for Four-Star LB Kristopher Jones

VT Fans 1

Four-star LB Kristopher Jones out of Mountain View HS in Stafford, Virginia is one of the top overall targets for Virginia Tech in the 2024 class. The Hokies are off to a good start in his recruitment as they recently made his top 12.

The Hokies were joined in his top 12 by Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, Penn State, LSU, Notre Dame, Florida, Maryland, and Virginia. Among the notable offers not to make the cut for Jones including Michigan State, South Carolina, Wake Forest Auburn, Louisville, West Virginia, Arizona State, Syracuse, and Rutgers.

Jones had this to say about why the Hokies made his top 12.

"The staff at VT feels like family and that’s something I look for when I’m looking for a school," Jones said.

Sam LBs/nickels coach Shawn Quinn, who is one of VT's area recruiters for the Fredericksburg area, is leading the charge for the Hokies in their pursuit of Jones. He had this to say about his relationship with Shawn Quinn.

"It’s cool, me and coach Quinn talk a lot," Jones said. "Coach Quinn is a down to earth dude and also reaches out to my family as well. He shows that he cares about his athletes."

Jones also told us that head coach Brent Pry and defensive coordinator/LBs coach Chris Marve are also in contact with him "often".

As you can tell from the schools involved in his recruitment, Jones is an elite talent as all four recruiting services have him ranked among the top 12 linebackers nationally and top 2 recruits in VA with ESPN and Rivals having him at #1 in VA. He also earned All-Area and All-Region First Team honors this past season as part of a talented defense that also includes 2024 three-star DL Eric Mensah.

Looking ahead, Jones told us that is definitely to try to set up a Virginia Tech while he also is planning on taking visits to Penn State and Tennessee in the near future.

Virginia Tech is off to a good start in their recruitment of four-star LB Kristopher Jones, but the Hokies have plenty of work ahead to keep one of VA's premier talents home.
