Four-star OT and former Penn State commit Layton von Brandt from Middletown, DE already appears to be a priority target for James Franklin and Virginia Tech. The good news for the Hokies is that they already have substantial traction with him and made his top 8.
The Hokies were joined in the top 8 by Penn State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn. All three major recruiting services have von Brandt ranked among the top 10 offensive tackles and top 65 overall recruits in the 2027 class. Additionally, his offer list goes beyond just those first eight schools and includes the likes of Georgia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Florida State, Nebraska, Missouri, West Virginia, Rutgers, Virginia, Syracuse, Stanford, and more.
