The ESPN and the ACC revealed kickoff times and networks for ACC games on the first weekend of October with Virginia Tech-Miami potentially receiving a spot on national TV.
3:30 PM kickoff for #Hokies @ Miami next Saturday, Oct. 5. Game will be televised by ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.— David Cunningham (@therealdcunna) September 23, 2019
Virginia Tech-Miami will kickoff at 3:30 on the opening Saturday in October with the game being shown on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2. This will be the first Saturday appearance for the Hokies on one of those 3 networks.
There was some wondering as to whether this game may be put in primetime on the ACC Network given how both haven't had great starts. However, the brand name power and magnitude of this rivalry rooted in their Big East history likely pushed it to a larger network.
The choice of network will come Sunday with this weekend's VT-Duke game likely to have a significant impact. A loss for the Hokies could send this matchup of 2-2 teams without an ACC win to ESPN2. A win for the Hokies could boost this game to ABC or ESPN given the position VT would be in even with a start that has been underwhelming.
Of course, plenty of that will depend on the other options that ABC and the ESPN family of networks have for their 3:30 slots.
