A source has told me that Virginia Tech offensive analyst Dyrell Roberts is leaving Blacksburg to take the WRs coach job at Eastern Michigan. This news comes just weeks after he was announced as one of Tech's prominent off-the-field hires. This confirms the initial news that was broke by John Brice of Football Scoop.
Roberts was going to be a top off-the-field assistant for the Hokies after becoming a priority for that position for Brent Pry after being impressed by the former standout VT WR in previous conversations.
Roberts had come to Virginia Tech after turning down multiple FCS WRs coach job opportunities including one with a top 10 level FCS program. However, the chance to be an FBS assistant is impossible to turn down especially in the Midwest where he's now spent some time thanks to his quality tenure at Western Illinois.
We will have more as this story develops.
