The redshirt freshman from Minnesota-Duluth had 61 catches for 1,119 yards and 14 touchdowns. Dehnicke was also named a first-team All-American and All-Conference this past year. He is a fascinating talent who seems more than ready for a massive jump up the college football ranks this offseason.
DII and DIII players are not subjected to a transfer portal window; therefore, they can enter and have been entering the portal. Luke Dehnicke has already received multiple Power Four offers that include teams like Duke, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, and others, which he has announced on his social media.
Dehnicke is an intriguing target for the Hokies as VT likely looks to rebuild the depth chart in the tight end room, especially after the Hokies hadn't signed a single scholarship TE since Zeke Wimbush in the 2023 class prior to signing four-star TE Pierce Petersohn this cycle.
Though there are still a few weeks before DI players can enter the portal on January 2nd, there is plenty of talent in the lower divisions that can make the jump to the higher level.
