Virginia Tech Football has sent out a lot of new offers recently especially to recruits in the Class of 2028. One of those recruits who recently received an offer is three-star OL Thomas Inkelaar from Andover Central HS in Andover, KS.
Inkelaar was quite excited to receive an offer from the Hokies as he shared.
“It was beyond words as is every offer I’ve gotten. It was especially cool knowing that coach (Jens) Danielsen is from my high school,” Inkelaar said.
As Inkelaar mentioned, he received the offer during a phone conversation with assistant OL coach Jens Danielsen and had this to say about how that conversation was as a whole.
“The conversation was great. We talked about how my summer had gone. He explained he was an alum from my high school and then he said that he wanted to offer me,” Inkelaar said.
While some recruits have a feeling they’re about to get an offer, the 6’6’’, 330-pound Inkelaar was quite surprised as VT hadn’t shown much interest prior to offering him.
“I had no idea they were interested till the day of the call,” Inkelaar said.
Inkelaar is ranked as the 27th best interior offensive lineman and sixth best 2028 recruit in Kansas by Rivals. His offer list includes VT, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, SMU, and North Texas.
So with all that said, how does this offer impact his recruitment and his view of VT?
“I think in terms of my recruitment, this is a major step as its my first offer from across the nation and I think it goes to show that I have the ability to play anywhere in any system. In terms of my view on VT, I think it has changed my view drastically. Obviously, I have always respected the program but now that I have an offer, it’s a place I have immense respect for and would love to get to know better,” Inkelaar said.
As Class of 2028 recruiting starts to heat up, Thomas Inkelaar is a name to remember among VT’s offensive line targets.
