He had this to say about his reaction to receiving a Virginia Tech offer.
"It was pure excitement. Great to receive an offer from a great ACC school like Tech," Plazz said.
He received the offer during a phone call with nickels/sam LBs coach Shawn Quinn who is one of Tech's primary recruiters in the Southeast. He had this to say about his conversation with Quinn.
"It was a great conversation. It felt like we’ve known each other for a while," Plazz said.
This offer didn't come out of nowhere as he told us that he's received a "decent amount" of interest from the Hokies since Brent Pry and his staff were hired in Blacksburg. Of course, there has been an OL coach change from Joe Rudolph to Ron Crook, but Crook clearly liked what he saw from Plazz to get the Hokies to extend the offer.
There are plenty of Power 5 schools currently involved in Plazz's recruitment with Florida State, Miami, NC State, and Rutgers among those standing out for him prior to the Hokies extending him an offer. In addition to those aforementioned 4 schools and Tech, Plazz also has offers from Kentucky, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Duke, UCF, Virginia, Cincinnati, and more.
So how does this offer impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"Things are still open now so I will talk more with VT, see about visiting, and look into it being a true possibility," Plazz said.
With an offer, the Hokies have put themselves in contention for three-star OT Deryc Plazz with the next needed step being to get him on campus for a visit.
