It could be a busy day for former Virginia Tech standouts at the 2025 NFL Draft with at least six Hokies under significant consideration to be selected during day three of the draft.
All of that got started early as Hokies RB Bhayshul Tuten was selected 104th overall in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the second pick of day three of the draft.
Tuten heads to Jacksonville after an impressive two seasons at Virginia Tech following his transfer from North Carolina A&T; putting up 2,022 yards and 25 rushing touchdowns while averaging 5.7 yards per carry plus 50 catches for 320 yards and four touchdowns. He also was a dynamic kick returner with 19 kick returns for 550 yards and two touchdowns during the 2023 season.
There's no doubt that Tuten is a dynamic, versatile running back who could impact Jacksonville both in their backfield and as a kick return option, especially with the NFL's modified kick return where reading blocks and finding holes is an even more important skill.
He will have plenty of work ahead of him with veteran Travis Etienne and third-year Tank Bigsby leading the Jaguars' room, but the opportunity does appear to be there for Tuten to earn a role in 2025.
With Tuten off the board, speculation will run rampant about who the Hokies' next selection will be with WRs Jaylin Lane and Da'Quan Felton, DE Antwaun Powell-Ryland, DT Aeneas Peebles, and CB Dorian Strong being the names to watch.
