When Virginia Tech takes the field this weekend against Boston College for the 2018 Homecoming game, fans will see what should be a familiar look at this point. For the third straight game, the Hokies will don a uniform combination that consists of maroon helmets, maroon jerseys and white pants. The facemask of the helmet is white, instead of the usual maroon that has been worn all season long. At this point in the season, the Hokies are 3-2 when wearing maroon helmets. The team has gone 2-2 while wearing maroon jerseys this season. White pants have seen the team go 3-2 as well in the 2018 season. Wearing this specific uniform combination, the Hokies are 1-1. They defeated North Carolina 22-19 three weeks ago before losing to Georgia Tech 49-28 while wearing the same colors. With this weekend being Homecoming, I particularly like this uniform combination by the Hokies. There’s something about the white facemask on a maroon helmet that gives it a traditional feel. Combine that with the traditional maroon jersey and white pants, and you’ve got a look fit for a weekend that honors the past. Fans can see this look on the field this Saturday when the Hokies host Boston College at 3:45 p.m. in Lane Stadium.
