Three-star LB Ethan Crisp may still be early in his recruitment, but the talented Tennessean linebacker has several schools standing out for him including Virginia Tech as he told us.
"It’s still early in the process but there are a few schools that are showing a lot of love: Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Cincinnati, and Georgia," Crisp said.
He had this to say about why the Hokies are currently standing out for him.
"I’m building a great relationship with coach (Jack) Tyler. We talk regularly and he seems to truly care for me and my family as a person not just a recruit," Crisp said.
Crisp did take a visit to Virginia Tech this summer, but he will make his first visit to Blacksburg for a game next weekend when the Hokies face Notre Dame. He had this to say about what he's hoping to see on his upcoming visit to Blacksburg.
"Just being able to feel the vibe of the campus and stadium and the team and feel the game day atmosphere," Crisp said.
So far, Crisp has played quite well through 7 games of his high school season with an impressive 55 tackles including 10 for loss with 2 sacks, 3 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 1 touchdown, and 1 safety.
Unsurprisingly, those stats show that Crisp has a lot of strengths and also fits well in a Tech defense that is looking for more athletic linebackers who can do it all.
He had this to say about both the strengths and the weaknesses of his game.
"I’d say my weaknesses are strength and shedding blocks because I’m only 205 right now but I’d say my strengths are I’m very versatile: I can cover slots, tight ends, and running backs all pretty well," Crisp said.
As Tech's 2023 targets come into picture, keep an eye on the talented Ethan Crisp as a potential top linebacker target who has a lot of the skills that Tech looks for in their linebackers.
