Virginia Tech will be without only a few players this week but one of those is starting senior defensive end Emmanuel Belmar plus RB/secondary kick returner Keshawn King and others.

What's most notable is at this point, barely any of the absences have unknown origins from our best understanding.

Belmar will miss his second-straight game after being out last week at Louisville with Amare Barno expected to start in his place. Jaylen Griffin should see a larger role as well along with freshman Robert Wooten who returns this week after missing the Louisville game for unknown reasons.

King's absence will be most felt on kickoffs where teams have short kicked it to him rather than deep to Khalil Herbert with King being effective as well. Raheem Blackshear and Jalen Holston are possibilities to pair with Herbert this week.

Jermaine Waller is not included on this list once again this week, but was actually warming up as it appears he will make his return this week. It remains to be seen whether the Hokies will start Brion Murray or Dorian Strong should he play as we discussed in our Three Things to Watch.

We will have more as this story develops.
