For the second-straight year and only the third time in Virginia Tech Women's Basketball history, the Hokies will be hosting their first and second round games earning a four seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

24-7 Virginia Tech will take on 13 seed Marshall (26-6) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament with the winner facing the winner of the first round matchup between five seed Baylor (24-7) and the winner of the play-in game between Vanderbilt (22-9) and Columbia (23-6). USC is the one seed in the Portland 3 region where the Hokies landed with Ohio State being the two seed and Connecticut receiving the three seed.

This is the second-highest seed that Virginia Tech Women's Basketball has ever earned matching the 4 seed that the Hokies earned in 1999 and only surpassed by the one seed VT earned last year on their way to reaching their first Final Four in program history.

Just a few weeks ago, the Hokies were in the hunt for a second-straight one seed being ranked fifth by the committee in their final top 16 reveal prior to the Hokies' regular season road trip to Notre Dame. However, the Hokies went 1-3 following that reveal with a pair of losses to the Fighting Irish, a loss at UVA when Liz Kitley got injured, and a win over Miami without Kitley in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.

The unknown status of Kitley likely hurt Tech's chances of gaining a three seed though the fact that she hasn't been ruled out prevented the committee from wrongly dropping VT out of being a top four seed.

We will have more as this story developed.
