Over the past few years, we've seen the Virginia Tech men's basketball team play in early-season tournaments with the Hokies set to play in the 2017 2K Sports Classic in Brooklyn with Washington, Providence, and Saint Louis. However, Kenny Brooks and the women's basketball team will be following the lead of Buzz Williams and playing in an early-season tournament. The Virginia Tech Hokies' women's basketball program will play in the 2017 Paradise Jam Tournament and will play Butler, West Virginia, and Drexel. The Hokies went undefeated in non-conference play in 2016 with some quality wins over Tennessee and Auburn while this tournament presents a great opportunity for the Hokies to get some quality win with Virginia Tech likely to have their eyes set on trying to make the NCAA Tournament after getting to the quarterfinals of the WNIT. This trip also means that the Hokies will get some experience in an early-season tournament environment with a team that will be having some new starters next season.
