In the first roster move of the 2026-27 offseason for Virginia Tech wrestling, Tom Crook entered his name into the transfer portal, per Pat Mineo. The 141-pounder will have one year of eligibility remaining.

In three seasons at Virginia Tech, the Tampa Bay native qualified for NCAAs each year but couldn't get over the hump against national competition. Despite becoming a two-time place-winner at ACCs, he largely had a tough time against ACC foes, as well. Arguably, the biggest moment of Crook's career in Blacksburg came in 2024, when he defeated North Carolina's No. 5 Lachlan McNeil in a dual meeting, earning him ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week honors.
His departure is unsurprising, given that the Hokies are set to add the top recruit in the class of 2026, Bo Bassett, this fall; Bassett will likely join next season's lineup in the 141-pound spot.
