Virginia Tech QB Davi Belfort and OT Web Davidson will enter the transfer portal when it opens tomorrow, as On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported regarding Belfort and as Davidson announced for himself.
Both Belfort and Davidson are leaving Virginia Tech after spending only one year at Virginia Tech. Since Belfort and Davidson both redshirted this past season, they will each have four years of eligibility remaining at their next school.
Based on my estimation, this leaves the Hokies with 107 players for next season, only two over the new 105-man roster limit being implemented for 2025 via the House Settlement.
Belfort appeared to have the edge for now as VT’s QB3 but the gap for marginal at best between him and Tech’s two early enrollees Kelden Ryan and AJ Brand. Combine that with the scheme shift under Philip Montgomery and it became clear that Belfort was no longer a good fit as a QB at VT.
We will have more as this story develops.
