Virginia Tech quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer dropped back, felt the pocket beginning to collapse and looked for somewhere to go with the football.

More often than not, he already knew where to look.

Luke Reynolds.

It is a connection that may be new to Virginia Tech, but it is anything but new to the two players involved.

Before Grunkemeyer and Reynolds arrived in Blacksburg and became featured pieces of James Franklin's first Virginia Tech offense, the two spent years working alongside one another at Penn State. They climbed the depth chart together, developed into significant pieces of the Nittany Lions' offense during the latter half of last season and ultimately made the move to Virginia Tech together.

Now, three years of accumulated reps are beginning to show.

“Yeah, I mean, just so many banked reps [with him],” Grunkemeyer said about Reynolds. “He’s seeing it the same way I am, and I’m just kind of reacting off him.”

Those banked reps have quickly translated into production.
