Four-Star WR Darryle Simmons Commits to Virginia Tech

Darryle Simmons 1
The Virginia Tech Hokies have gotten off to a solid start on the recruiting trail with six commitments including at least one wide receiver in Bryce Thompson along with DeJuan Ellis who could be a slot receiver for Virginia Tech after recommitting to the Hokies as an athlete. In terms of pure receivers, the Hokies are looking to bring in three to four guys and today, Virginia Tech has added one of their top receiver targets. https://twitter.com/dsimm_ii/status/863786255309582336 Four-star WR Darryle Simmons announced that he has committed to Virginia Tech over a lot of other power 5 offers including Penn State, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and others. Brian Mitchell and Holmon Wiggins led the recruitment of Simmons and have done a great job in getting a quality receiver who we hadn't heard much about in terms of the Hokies' pursuit of him. Simmons is a borderline four-star WR with ESPN and Rivals both rating him as a four-star while 247 Sports and the 247 Sports Composite have him as a high three-star with Simmons being seen as one of the top 12 recruits in Pennsylvania and top 65 wide receivers across the board including the 40th best WR and 194th best recruit overall by Rivals. Virginia Tech is building a strong class with Simmons being the first average four-star recruit to commit to the Hokies in the Class of 2018, making him a face of a class that has a strong foundation and is looking like a top 25 class nationally in this cycle. Simmons is also the second commit from Pennsylvania this cycle joining three-star DB Nasir Peoples and could be useful as the Hokies pursue another top target from Pennsylvania in four-star TE Kyle Pitts. Congrats to Darryle Simmons on his commitment to Virginia Tech.
