Virginia Tech has shown plenty of interest in the JUCO ranks extending multiple offers. Earlier this week, LaRon Stokes became the latest defensive lineman to receive an offer from the Hokies.

Stokes told us that he was "very excited" to receive an offer from the Hokies while also saying that he did have some expectation in regards to receiving a VT offer. The Hokies are also pursuing Stokes as a defensive end who has a very intriguing frame at 6'4'' and 245 pounds, very good size for a DE.
After receiving offers from Virginia Tech and Oklahoma State, Stokes told us that the Hokies were in his top 3 alongside the Cowboys and Oregon. At this point, Stokes is also focused on those 3 as he intends to sign during the Early Signing Window and enroll this January.
Why are the Hokies in his top 3?
"It's because of how consistent they are. From what I was told, they've been selected to 26 straight bowl games, and they're in a very competitive conference," Stokes said.
Stokes confirmed to us that he will take an official visit to Oregon this weekend followed by one to Virginia Tech next weekend. Given the later timing of the Oklahoma State offer, Stokes doesn't have a scheduled official visit but is looking at a mid-week trip to Stillwater. Whatever the case may be, Stokes is currently planning on making a decision after his VT visit.
LaRon Stokes was also one of the best JUCO defensive ends with 76 tackles including 7 sacks while leading Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in sacks and tackles for loss. Given that success, it's clear Stokes has a defined style of play that he said is largely defined by discipline.
"I think I'm a disciplined player who can go and make some plays. I know VT is a gap sound defense which requires discipline," Stokes said.
Given the productivity, it's clear Stokes at least has some discipline in his game. His assessment of the importance of filing your gap in VT's defense is also spot on, showing his potential to quickly pick up the Hokies' defensive scheme.
Virginia Tech is a legitimate contender for recently offered JUCO DE LaRon Stokes in what is a cross-county battle between the Hokies, Cowboys, and Ducks for one of JUCO's most talented defensive ends.
