TE Chris Cunningham Will Transfer Away From Virginia Tech

Twenty two minutes after wide receiver Eric Kumah announced he was leaving Virginia Tech, tight end Chris Cunningham announced he will be transferring from the program. In Cunningham's official statement on his twitter, he thanked Hokie Nation for their support, head coach Justin Fuente and the staff for their support over the past three seasons and former coach Frank Beamer, who's staff originally recruited him. Cunningham finished by announcing that his "recruitment is now open." https://twitter.com/IAM_CC2/status/1087876974847107073 The redshirt junior tight end for the Hokies played in 13 of 14 games this season, missing the William and Mary game in September. He started just two of those games - Georgia Tech and Virginia. Cunningham finished the 2018 season with 7 receptions for 74 yards and 2 touchdowns that came against Old Dominion and Cincinnati. For his career, Cunningham had 22 catches for 297 yards and 7 touchdowns. Virginia Tech now has five tight ends, four being freshman or redshirt freshsman this past season. Dalton Keene, who started all 13 games this season, is the lone sophomore and expected starter.
