Virginia Tech began adding more names to the 2020 recruiting class on Friday afternoon. Linebacker Tyreem Powell made his announcement to commit to Virginia Tech on Twitter, just a week after visiting the university.
"Earning a scholarship, excelling in school, and playing college football was always my dream!" Powell said on Twitter.
"Special thanks to Coach Fuente, Coach Foster, Coach Mitchell, Coach Sparber and the entire VT coaching staff! Go Hokies!"
Powell joins quarterback Tyler Warren as the only commits so far in the 2020 recruiting class for Virginia Tech. The 6-4, 185-pound linebacker also had offers from Temple and Rutgers.
It didn't take too long for the Vineland, N.J. native to make his decision. Powell visited Virginia Tech just last weekend, saying that he enjoyed his visit and loved the campus and coaching staff.
