2023 OT Jven Williams Discusses His Virginia Tech Offer

VT v UNC 2019 30

With the fall high school football season in full swing, Virginia Tech has been sending out its fair share of offers recently including one to 2023 four-star OT Jven Williams from Reading, Pennsylvania.

Williams had this to say about receiving an offer from the Hokies and the whole conversation he had with offensive line coach Vance Vice.

"I am super excited because of the elite academics there," Williams said. "The conversation was him telling me how I would fit in there and into their offense, and how school is there along with their atmosphere."

This offer wasn't out of nowhere as Williams told us he has been receiving lots of interest from the Hokies lately.

"I had a lot of interest before I was offered. I loved the program and the amazing Enter Sandman entrance!" Williams said.

One of the thing that undoubtedly impresses Williams is the fact that the Hokies are building a strong offensive line tradition under OL coach Vance Vice especially after the first round draft selection of Christian Darrisaw. Williams had this to say about that including the high selection of Darrisaw.

"It just shows how great the coaching is and how rich their tradition at VT is," Williams said.

Jven Williams has seen his recruitment take off since receiving his first offer from Pittsburgh on September 20th as he has also received offers from Penn State, Michigan, Boston College, West Virginia, Illinois, Maryland, and Temple in addition to VT. Williams also told us that he is receiving lots of interest from TCU as it is appearing clear that his recruitment could be a national one.

Part of what likely helps Williams is the fact that he is a multi-sport athlete as he is a very talented discus and shot put thrower listing 185 feet as his longest discus throw so far in his high school career. For reference, I was a two-time All-Battlefield District discus thrower in high school with my longest career throw being just over 120 feet so that says a lot about the fact that Williams is an elite football player and thrower.

So how did this offer impact Williams' recruitment and VT's standing in it?

"This offer means a lot to me. it’s helping me get my name out there and letting other people get to hear about me. I appreciate VT offering and it’s a great program," Williams said.

Keep an eye on Jven Williams as Virginia Tech enters the discussion for one the top 2023 offensive tackles on the East Coast.
