While the focus for many may be on official visits, Virginia Tech has also been hosting loads of talented recruits beyond the 2023 class including one of their top overall 2024 targets, four-star WR Keylen Adams out of Green Run HS in Virginia Beach.
Adams told us that it was a "good" visit for him and that he had a "great time" while at Virginia Tech. He expanded on what made it a great time for him in Blacksburg.
"They showed me around campus and the football facility, and I talked to the coaches to get a real understanding of what Virginia Tech is all about," Adams said.
He also shared some insight on the coaches he spent the most time with during his visit which is who you would expect for a top 2024 target.
"(Offensive grad assistant Matt Herrmann) took me and my family on the tour and (WRs coach Fontel) Mines and (head coach Brent) Pry talked to us in between the tour and pictures," Adams said.
Adams had this to ay about how his time with WRs coach Fontel Mines went.
"I had a good time. Coach Mines was very straightforward about what he plans on doing to help the program as well as what he plans on doing to help players get to that next level," Adams said.
He also had this to say about how his time with head coach Brent Pry went.
"It was good. He brings a lot of energy and honesty," Adams said.
So what stood out to him during his visit to Virginia Tech?
"I like how they treated me like I was apart of the team, like I was family," Adams said.
There were also some things that were unique to this visit for Adams compared to other places he has visited.
"They were very upfront and honestly, they didn't sugarcoat or sell dreams like a lot of others schools to try and get me at VT," Adams said.
So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"VT definitely moved up," Adams said. "The old coaching staff didn’t put in effort to try and get me there. The new coaching staff made me feel like a priority the whole time I was there," Adams said.
There's no doubt that Keylen Adams is one of Virginia Tech's top overall priorities for the 2024 class with the Hokies doing everything they can to try to land the 757 star.
