2024 Three-Star TE Gavin Grover and Family Has "Great Time" at Virginia Tech

Gavin Grover June 2022 VT Visit

Ahead of a busy official visit weekend and camps to end the June recruiting period, Virginia Tech hosted loads of talented recruits on unofficial visits Thursday including 2024 three-star TE Gavin Grover out of Ohio.

He had this to say about how his visit went.

"My mom, little brother, and I had a great time at Virginia Tech today. They really made an effort to make sure they were both enjoying the visit," Grover said.

When asked what stood out to him during his visit, Grover expanded on how impressed he was with how Virginia Tech treated his family along with some other things that stuck out.

"What stood out most was how the coaches went out of there way to make sure my mom and brother were enjoying there visit. What also stood out to me was the genuine conversation I was having with the coaching staff as well as what their plans were for the tight end position at their school," Grover said.

So what made it a "great time" for Grover personally?

"Well when I first got there the team was having there walk through and I got a look at there offense and what I really enjoyed was the OC/TE Coach (Tyler) Bowen took me to there tight end room. From there we looked at some film of what that offense looks like and how I would fit into it all. It was really cool to see how I would fit into a college offense and the responsibilities I would have.

He also gave us the full picture of everything that he did during his visit including some of the things he mentioned that made it a "great time" for him.

"When we first got there, we watched a team walk through. Then we went inside and did a quick photo shoot which is always a good time. From there, we went on a campus tour which was beautiful and definitely a place I could see myself at. Once we got back to the facility, I got to speak with Coach (Brent) Pry and Coach Bowen about VT football and what there plans are. After that, me and Coach Bowen looked at some film of how he plans to use the TEs," Grover said.

He had this to say about how his time and conversations went with offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen.

"I enjoyed talking to Coach Bowen because he is so knowledgeable about the tight end position and football overall," Grover said.

He had this to say about how his time and conversations went with head coach Brent Pry.

"Coach and I had a great conversation about where he wants to take the program and what types of dudes he wants in that program. He wants to take this program to the next level," Grover said.

So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"It’s was really cool to finally meet this coaching staff in person. It definitely sparked some interest for me and I will definitely continue to build a relationship with VT. I will 100% be back in the fall for a game and stay in touch with these coaches," Grover said.

Virginia Tech's 2024 tight end target board is coming together with the Hokies off to a strong start with Ohio standout Gavin Grover.
