Virginia Tech's 2024 tight end board is beginning to take shape as the Hokies sent out their fair share of 2024 tight end offers this week including one to three-star TE Gavin Grover out of Lewis Center, OH.

Grover had this to say about his reaction to receiving an offer from the Hokies via a phone call with offensive coordinator/TEs coach Tyler Bowen.

"I’m super grateful to receive an offer from Coach (Tyler) Bowen at Virginia Tech who has coached so many talented tight ends in his career. It’s a really awesome atmosphere from what I have heard and seen," Grover said.

Grover added that it was a "great" phone conversation as a whole and the offer came after he had been receiving interest from the Hokies for a little primarily led by offensive analyst Jeff Carpenter.

Grover expanded on his relationship with Carpenter as well.

"We have had a few phone calls and I think we have had some great conversations about what Virginia Tech has to offer as well as how I would fit in at Virginia Tech. I hope to keep communicating with him in the future," Grover said.

Though Grover hasn't been in contact with Tyler Bowen nearly as much till now, his recent conversation with Bowen was a strong start as Grover starts to build a relationship with the Hokies' OC who could be his collegiate coach down the road.

"Although we have had only one phone call, we have a strong foundation for a great relationship in the future," Grover said.

His offer from Tech comes as he is building up a strong offer list early in his HS career which also includes Michigan State, Kentucky, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Duke, Toledo, Akron, and Ball State. Additionally, Grover told us that he is receiving interest from Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

All of this interest shouldn't come as a surprise as Grover had a very good season for a sophomore HS tight end with 41 receptions for 421 yards and 2 touchdown.

So how does this offer impact Grover's recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it early on?

"I think I have a good relationship with VT and hope to continue it," Grover said.

It may be early in Gavin Grover's recruitment, but Tyler Bowen's reputation for developing tight ends like Pat Freiermuth gives the Hokies a clear in along with a strong, early foundation laid in part by Tech's larger football staff.
