2024 Three-Star WR Channing Goodwin Enjoys Virginia Tech Visit

VT v UNC 2019 161

Virginia Tech had loads of talented recruits on campus last weekend including 2024 three-star WR Channing Goodwin out of Charlotte, NC. Goodwin's mid-summer visit to Blacksburg went quite well as he shared with us.

"It was good. I was there for a while so I enjoyed it a lot," Goodwin said.

So what made it a good visit for him?

"I got to spend a lot of time with the staff and especially (WRs) coach (Fontel) Mines," Goodwin said.

Goodwin gave us some insight into the full scope of what he did during his visit to VT.

"We first ate at the BBQ. Then we were able to take some pictures. Then after that, we got to spend the rest of the time with the coaches," Goodwin said.

As Goodwin shared, his trip included plenty of time and conversations with WRs coach Fontel Mines which went well as he told us.

"It was good. We got to talk some ball and watch some of their film to see how they do things," Goodwin said. "It was really fun. I got to learn a lot about him."

He also got to spend time with offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen and head coach Brent Pry. Goodwin's time with Bowen went well with the talented WR having this to say about it.

"It was good. I also got to watch some film with him too," Goodwin said.

He also enjoyed getting to be around Brent Pry even as Pry was quite busy given the magnitude of the recruiting weekend as you would expect.

"It was fun. He was a little bit more busy but I enjoyed it," Goodwin said.

It shouldn't be a surprise that Tech's staff spent lots of time with Goodwin given his offer list which also includes Michigan, N.C. State, Kentucky, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Louisville, West Virginia, East Carolina, Coastal Carolina, and more.

So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"It makes a big impact for me. VT, probably out of all the schools that I talk to, they’re the one that stays in touch with me the most so it helps them a lot," Goodwin said.

Channing Goodwin enjoyed his time in Blacksburg with Virginia Tech emerging as a serious contender early on.
