2024 VA Top 10 WR Mekhai White Recaps "Great" Virginia Tech Visit

Hokie Bird 1

There were loads of talented recruits visiting Virginia Tech for the Hokies' comfortable 27-10 victory over Boston College including 2024 WR Mekhai White who is ranked in the top 10 in Virginia for 2023 by 247 Sports, Rivals, and On3. White's visit to Blacksburg went quite well as he shared with us.

"The visit was great!" White said. "I just felt at home. The coaches showed a lot of love and the fans also did. The atmosphere was crazy."

He told that his visit was primarily built around the game and spending time with coaches leading up to it including his area recruiter Shawn Quinn plus WRs coach Fontel Mines. He had this to say about how his conversations went with Mines, his potential college coach.

"The conversations were great just talking about my football season and stuff like that. I had a great time with him yesterday. He's a really cool dude," White said.

He also feels that he would fit well in the VT offense as he told us.

"I feel like I would fit well in that offense! I would be the receiver they need to take the top off the defenses," White said.

White has a fairly strong relationship with Shawn Quinn already with White enjoying the time that he got to spend with his area recruiter who has taken on a large role in his recruitment as you would expect.

"Talking to him is just like talking to my dad. He's really cool and I really enjoyed it," White said.

So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where VT stands in it? Well it do a whole lot to reaffirm that the Hokies are one of his favorites as he told us.

"I wouldn’t say it really impacted my recruiting because they always have been one of my favorite schools!! They are in a really good spot to land me, so are a couple other schools too. I think a couple schools will start separating themselves from the rest soon because schools can start talking to me now," White said.

So why are the Hokies one of his favorites?

"First, it is an in-state school, very good academic school, Their history, and the place is just special," White said.

There's no doubt that Mekhai White is going to be one of Virginia Tech's top offensive targets for the 2024 cycle. Tech has put in the work with White's fourth visit to Blacksburg including the second since Brent Pry's arrival, going quite well and reinforcing that Tech is a top contender for him.
