Virginia Tech and Old Dominion will face off on for the first time this Saturday. There is lots of excitement for this game especially among 757 natives. That includes 757 players currently on the team like Deon Newsome.
On Saturday, Newsome will also get to be a part of a cool tradition as well.
757 native Deon Newsome will wear the #25 jersey against Old Dominion. The redshirt senior nickelback found a home this season as the backup whip linebacker and a special teams player.
Newsome has had a wild ride in Blacksburg starting at wide receiver before shifting to defense before the 2016 season. It's taken some time for Newsome to find his niche in Blacksburg, but he has worked hard to earn playing time and is worthy of wearing the #25 jersey.
Deon Newsome impressed the coaches this spring and though he may not be a starter, he has earned a role as a part-time defensive player and important special teams player. Newsome has 2 tackles in his first two games, and will look to make some plays Saturday with plenty of 757 eyes having their attention on this game.
Congrats to Deon Newsome on wearing the #25 jersey against Old Dominion.
