Virginia Tech added another defensive back to their 2025 transfer class as Division II standout Joseph Reddish, the older brother of current VT S Quentin Reddish, committed to the Hokies today.

Virginia Tech was the most notable team pursuing Joseph Reddish, who also made trips to JMU and a couple FCS programs. Reddish is the seventh transfer addition of this class including the fourth defensive back along with Clemson S Sherrod Covil Jr, ECU CB Isaiah Brown-Murray, and Rice S Tyson Flowers.
He has three years of eligibility remaining after an impressive redshirt freshman season for Wingate during which he had 33 tackles including two for loss plus four interceptions and 11 pass breakups this past season.
Reddish is an interesting addition that likely shouldn't be expected to contribute immediately but does provide depth while showing upside already to develop into a contributor down the role. Now given that he has used his redshirt already, he could be a guy that factors into special teams for the Hokies in the near term.
This addition likely does not change the fact that the Hokies are likely to still add another defensive back who has more of a nickel background. His addition also doesn't impact my projected two-deep in the defensive backfield at this time.
