It’s not often that a formerly-dismissed head coach returns to the same program in any capacity, let alone in a role as significant as defensive coordinator. But the relationship that Franklin and Pry share is not typical for most college football coaches. Theirs is deeply-rooted, and extends back to the early-90s, when Franklin was the quarterback at East Stroudsburg University under Brent’s father, Jim Pry, who was Stroudsburg’s offensive coordinator at the time.
