Virginia Tech's strong spring surge on the 2027 recruiting trail continued late Thursday night as four-star CB Chase Johnson out of Swainsboro, Georgia committed to the Hokies.
The 5'11', 160-pound Johnson chose Virginia Tech over other offers from Florida State and Louisville (who had official visits scheduled per 247 Sports), plus Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Miami, Oregon, Tennessee, Penn State, Florida, Auburn, Georgia Tech, SMU, Arizona State, NC State, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Kansas State, Arkansas, Kentucky, Kansas, Purdue, Mississippi State, and more.
Johnson is the tenth of 11 commitments for the Hokies including the first cornerback commitment for the Hokies this cycle. He is also the second commitment from Georgia for VT joining three-star RB Stanley Smart.
This is a very nice recruiting victory for Virginia Tech to go into the Southeast and get a talented player like Johnson who has an impressive offer list with 20+ Power 4 programs. It's also an encouraging sign of the financial backing with VT beating out Florida State and Louisville who were both heavily involved.
