The 5'10, 200-pound Savannah, Georgia native chose Virginia Tech over Kansas State and USF, which features former Hokies' running backs coach Elijah Brooks. Smart also had offers from Auburn, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kansas, Syracuse, Texas Tech, UCF, Wake Forest, and West Virginia, among others.
Playing at the Benedictine Military School, Smart is ranked as the No. 89 player in Georgia by 247. He's the second running back to commit to Virginia Tech's 2027 recruiting class in a week, joining three-star Kelvin Morrison, who announced his commitment last week. His addition brings the class total to eight prospects, ranking 23rd nationally, according to 247.
