Four-Star ATH Rodney Gallagher Recaps His "Great" Virginia Tech Visit

Rodney Gallagher May 17th 2022 VT Visit

Virginia Tech hosted a few talented 2023 standouts out of the Pittsburgh area yesterday including four-star ATH Rodney Gallagher who Tech is recruiting as a WR. Gallagher's visit went quite well as seen on his Twitter and also as he shared with us.

"It was a great visit," Gallagher said. "I love the environment."

Gallagher told us that his visit including getting to tour campus and meet with all of the coaches. When he said all of the coaches, that meant everybody from the head coach to spending time with recruiting staffers like Lino Lupinetti who has helped lead Tech's charge for him.

Gallagher told us that his time and conversations with head coach Brent Pry was "great" and added this about the message that Pry had for Gallagher during those conversations.

"He respects me, my story, and my family; and would love to have me there," Gallagher said.

Gallagher had this to say about his time and conversations with WRs coach Fontel Mines who has also played a big role prior to this visit in Tech's recruitment of Gallagher.

"It was great. I got to know him as a person," Gallagher said.

Gallagher spent some time with offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen during his visit with those conversations being "great" as they "talked about life." He also got to spend time with recruiting assistant Lino Lupinetti who Gallagher says is "my guy, we just mess around and play video games." Of course, if you follow Lupinetti on Twitter, you know quite well that he's very competitive about his Madden NFL game skills.

Overall, Gallagher told us that the Hokies "stand high" in his recruitment after this visit which appears to have reinforced why he included them in his top 8 in the first place.

Now there has been some speculation about his visit schedule ahead of his July 4th commitment which includes plans to take official visits in June. Gallagher told us that he will finish "his schedule soon" and when we asked him about if he had any official visits set, he told us that he "had a schedule but will be fixing it" so his visit plans still appear to be in flux across the board.

The good news for the Hokies is that they have put themselves in the hunt with Gallagher telling us that Virginia Tech is in consideration for one of his official visits.

The Hokies now have some momentum in the recruitment of Rodney Gallagher, but they'll need to get a June official visit booked ASAP if they are to remain contenders in his recruitment.
