Four-Star WR/TE Carnell Warren Commits to Virginia Tech

Carnell Warren 1 VT Visit July 2024

Virginia Tech is back on the board in the 2026 recruiting cycle as the Hokies landed a commitment from four-star WR/TE Carnell Warren out of Bluffton, SC.

Warren chose the Hokies over other offers from Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, Wake Forest, and others along with significant interest from South Carolina and Duke. He is the Hokies' lone commit currently after four-star QB Peyton Falzone decommitted from the Hokies earlier on this fall.

Warren is currently viewed by recruiting services as a wide receiver, but the 6'4'' athlete could also grow into a tight end, with Tech open to playing him at either WR or TE depending on his physical development. In many ways, Warren is a similar HS propsect to Dae'Quan Wright who was initially seen as a wide receiver but grew into being a tight end by the time he signed with the Hokies.

Warren has been very productive the past two seasons as he had 59 catches for 846 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior after having 53 catches for 723 yards and six touchdowns as a sophomore. That type of production combined with his size at 6'4'' makes it easy to see why VT views him so highly and made him a priority.

This is a very strong addition for the Hokies early in the 2026 recruiting cycle that will certainly grab some attention. Fontel Mines continues to be an ace recruiter for the Hokies while Stu Holt also played a significant role and deserves tons of credit for landing Warren as well. Warren visited multiple times during 2024 including once for a game, with those visits clearly making a big impact leading to him choosing VT.

Tech will obviously look to add a couple more receivers at least to their 2026 class while VT should look to add another tight end as well given the fact that Warren could still end up at WR and VT hasn't signed a high school tight end in either of the previous two recruiting cycles.
