Hokies Men's Soccer: Virginia Tech Makes The NCAA Tournament, Will Host ETSU

The Virginia Tech Hokies men's soccer had its best season in years with the Hokies being in the top 25 for most of the season with the Hokies being ranked as high as 15th at one point while not losing a single regulation game to an unranked opponent. The Hokies proved that they were worthy of being selected for the NCAA Tournament and that's exactly what happened. https://twitter.com/hokiesports/status/798229616280424448 The Virginia Tech Hokies are headed to the NCAA Tournament and will host East Tennessee State in the opening round. The matchup is very interesting given that these two programs faced off before the season started at Thompson Field in a scrimmage with the Hokies coming out on top 3-1. If the Hokies can beat ETSU as they will be heavily favored to do, they will face the 10th-seeded Charlotte 49ers who they played to a 0-0 tie after 2 overtimes on October 18th. The rematch would be a very interesting game in Charlotte with the Hokies having the potential to go on a run if they can pull off an upset here. Virginia Tech is back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a while as the Hokies' men's soccer program is back after what was a long rebuild by head coach Michael Brizendine and his staff. Congrats to the Hokies on making the 2016 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament. Stay up with The Tech Lunch Pail for the latest on the Hokies via Facebook, Twitter, and our email updates.
