James Franklin is looking to add to his staff by targeting Arkansas DBs coach Nick Perry for a defensive back coach role, according to a report by Matt Zanits of CBS Sports.

Nick Perry brings a mix of experience from the college ranks to the NFL and was most recently the secondary coach at Arkansas for the 2025 season. Perry was a former Alabama player and then spent two years in the NFL before he started coaching. He started back at his alma mater for three years under Nick Saban. Then he made the jump to the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and coached for the Seahawks in 2024.

There is currently an opening as a safeties coach, which is the last on-field role left for Franklin to fill. Whoever James Franklin finds to fill the role will be working hand-in-hand with cornerbacks coach Anthony Midget and nickels coach Vic Hall.
