The Virginia Tech Hokies (5-5, 3-3 ACC) travel to Durham, North Carolina to take on the Duke Blue Devils (7-3, 3-3) in a Saturday night showdown. Both teams are out of contention for a conference championship, but the Hokies have a chance to reach a bowl-game berth in back-to-back seasons if they can capture their sixth win on the road down south while Duke can achieve their third-straight 8+ win season for the first time since 2013-15.
However, Tech is also playing for its pride and vying for more than just a bowl appearance. The Hokies have dropped their last two games—a heartbreaking overtime loss to Syracuse in the JMA Wireless Dome and a disappointing defeat to No. 23 Clemson the following week in Lane Stadium. Tech held the lead at halftime in both of those contests, but it struggled in the third quarter of each game, letting its opponent re-enter the contest. This is a chance to pick up a solid victory and do so with a complete performance.
