Three-star OL prospect Kobe Baynes is set to visit to Blacksburg this weekend for the Virginia Tech Spring Game. This will be Baynes' second visit to Blacksburg. He says that "meeting the staff again and seeing the fans at the spring game" are the two things he is looking forward to this time around. Baynes says the Virginia Tech coach with whom he has the closest relationship is offensive line coach Charley Wiles. He added that Wiles is "definitely one of my favorite [coaches]" in his entire recruitment. Baynes has offers from numerous Power 5 schools including Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, Boston College, Duke, Louisville, Michigan, South Carolina, and West Virginia. He told us that South Carolina and Virginia Tech are recruiting him the hardest while the four schools that currently stand out for him are Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, Michigan, and NC State. While he currently goes to Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, FL, his roots are in the 757 which is part of the reason why the Hokies are standing out in his recruitment. "I'm originally from Norfolk, VA, and I always remembered watching Virginia Tech games," Baynes said. "The school has a great tradition and a very good program." Baynes is not rushing his recruitment, and he said he expects to come closer to a decision in the fall. For now, the Hokies are in a strong position for him with a great opportunity to make another good impression on one of their top offensive line targets.
